Livonia Jaycees Community Development

The Livonia Jaycees are the premiere leadership organization for community members aged 21-40. The nationally affiliated organization provides a variety of opportunities in four areas including management, membership and individual development. The largest area of opportunity in the chapter is Community Development which serves the commissions of Children and Youth, Fundraising, Government and Civic Support and Community Service.

Last year, the chapter raised over $40,000 for organizations such as the Officer Larry Nehasil Memorial Fund and Melanoma Research. The chapter also partnered with organizations in the community like the Livonia Police Officers Association, The Livonia Chamber of Commerce and the City of Livonia to provide support for our community. This type of community service has been a staple of the chapter for the 59 years it has been established.

In 2012, with the funds from Run Against Drugs, the Livonia Jaycees will extend their already established programming. First, the chapter would like to provide anti-drunk driving assemblies for all the Livonia High Schools. In addition, the Livonia Jaycees will include an “Anti Substance Abuse theme” and extend the giving amount of the “Leaders for Tomorrow Scholarship” program. Finally, since other organizations in the area do not focus on the demographic age range of the chapter, it will be their objective to provide substance abuse free programming throughout the community while building leaders.
